Whipsaw is honored to receive two awards from the Innovation by Design Award. The Aescape Fully-Automated Massage Experience was named one of 50 winners, and is a testament to our strong partnership with Aescape, which was collaborative and hands-on throughout our engagement.
Fast Company also honored a Whipsaw Design Lab (WDL) innovation: Ravenchord Piano. This iconic redesign of an acoustic piano is the inspiration of Whipsaw founder and CEO, Dan Harden.
The Fast Company Innovation by Design Awards was founded in 2012 and recognizes the best design minds across industries and disciplines. The team of editors and experts judged over 2,000 applications, “taking into consideration the key ingredients of innovation: functionality, originality, beauty, sustainability, user insight, cultural impact, and business impact.” Winners were chosen after multiple rounds of judging, as well as conversations which focused on the role of the design in the current cultural moment. We’re honored to have two Whipsaw-designed products recognized by this prestigious award.
Aescape is the world’s first fully automated robotic massage experience. Leveraging AI and machine learning technology, Aescape delivers a variety of body massages, including deep tissue therapy. Users simply lie down, and adjust the armrest-display element and headrest for comfort, and the four infrared sensors above scan the entire body, creating a three-dimensional map of all contours. The screen below the face pad allows users to select a massage program or customize the robotic arm movements to meet their specific massage goals. Learn more.
Ravenchord is a completely reimagined acoustic piano and exhibits how form and function can become one, strengthening the quality of the musical experience. It is a “front projection upright piano” and all working elements are exposed, so you can see exactly how the sound is being created. The player is revealed too since they now directly face the audience. Ravenchord instantly changes your perception of a piano, turning it into something strangely evocative and utterly dynamic.
