Fortune Examines How Openpath Will Help Companies in the Covid-19 Era

July 23, 2020

As the pandemic continues to roll on, offices are either closed or endeavoring to navigate soft openings that entail strict protocols around distancing and cleanliness. Even the basic act of entering and exiting an office has become a problem, and many companies are turning to App-based, keyless entry systems like Openpath to solve it.

Whipsaw collaborated with Openpath to design an intuitive keyless entry ecosystem for the modern workplace. The result is a Cloud-based alternative to keys and swipe cards that allows employees and tenants to enter a building or room by simply waving their smartphone or smartwatch over the device.

It also enables business owners to manage admission to meeting rooms and secure entire facilities in a contact-free way. Openpath has also recently taken some extra safety measures, including building APIs that integrate with temperature sensors (so companies can take employees’ temperatures upon arrival), and having them sign digital wellness attestations that they are symptom-free. These measures have become paramount in slowing down the spread of Covid-19.

“Openpath is a perfect example of how ’touchless tech’ can improve lives by keeping one safe. Not only is it hygienic, but its basic symbology (of a dot turning into an open ring inferring entrance) makes it instantly intuitive,” said Dan Harden, Openpath designer and CEO of Whipsaw, Inc.
