Whipsaw is awarded with 7 International Design Awards
Whipsaw is thrilled to have won seven awards at the International Design Awards (IDA). Our designs earned two Golds, four Silvers, and one Bronze in the product design discipline.
This year’s esteemed jury awarded Golds to both the Bear Robotics “Servi” and the Cisco MV Security Camera line in the Media and Home Electronics category.
Servi is a clean, compact and efficient food service robot. We developed Servi to fit seamlessly into any restaurant environment. Servi differs from standard intimidating robots by using a warm voice and hospitable gestures. Servi’s technology and design also promotes social distancing during the dining experience.
The smart MV camera family is a true differentiator in the enterprise video security world. We sought to bring elegance and approachability to the otherwise intimidating commercial security camera sector with our design. Our smooth, low profile bowl form flips the typical dome camera shape without compromising functionality. We topped it off with a glossy, black lens that melts into the bowl.
Whipsaw also earned four Silvers for the following products:
The Uber Beacon is a dashboard-mounted visual communication device that helps drivers and riders find each other. Beacon’s bright, bold design makes car recognition instantaneous. Beacon won in the Transportation-Vehicle accessories category. The jury noted that Beacon was one of its two strongest IDA entries.
The Koniku Konikore is a sensor that uses living brain neurons from mice to “smell” compounds such as pathogens, explosives, and cancer cells. The judges lauded KoniKore for its “leading-edge ideas.” It is currently in trials for Covid-19 detection.
The Google Trekker is a backpack that photographs and produces interactive maps of locations automobiles cannot access. Trekker won in the Design for Society category. It was called an “impressive innovation” by this year’s jury.
The Glint Hero Lighting System is the world’s first luminaire that points light in any direction. Instead of moving a light fixture, Glint has a joystick that manipulates light according to the user’s needs.
Finally, Whipsaw took home a Bronze for Ventir.
Ventir is a customizable backpack system. Users can easily change their bag’s configuration depending on their carrying needs. The jury commended Ventir’s “innovation and clear market potential.”

This year marked the 15th annual International Design Awards. IDA is one of the most revered global design awards in the world. It shines a light on design luminaries and seeks to discover talent in architecture, interior, product, graphic, and fashion design.

Whipsaw has been a consistent IDA winner over the years. The previous Whipsaw wins include the Ceribell Rapid Response EEG, the Penumbra Clot Removal System, and the Bizzy Home Robot. These designs were the only ones to earn Gold in their respective categories.
