British-born Mike Elam is an industrial designer and engineer with 25 years of experience in consulting. He’s brought his unique blend of expertise to a diverse range of products throughout his career, including lifesaving infant warming mats for the Third World, solar-powered vaccine refrigerators, power tools, and baby strollers.

Mike puts physical user experience at the heart of his creative solutions to tough challenges. He has helped to deliver products with groundbreaking innovation, as demonstrated by his substantial track record of inventorship with around 25 utility patents granted or in the works.

Prior to joining Whipsaw, Mike was the director of product development at consulting firm RKS in Southern California, and he ran Hyphen Design, a London-based product design consultancy, for many years before relocating to the US.
